CARTWS BACH - The Little Carthouse - Sleeps 3
Quiet, relaxed, peaceful retreat
Not suitable for noisy or unruly children.
An 18th Century Carthouse sympathetically restored to conservation standards with a simple yet elegant feel.
Cartws Bach is attached to a 100 foot granary barn and cottage, it forms one side of the courtyard at the old farm of Bwlch Garregllwyd, now divided into three separate properties; with a neighbouring converted barn on one side and the Farmhouse on the other, together forming a courtyard to the front. The cottage is south facing and looks out into its own little garden where you can have a BBQ or little open fire. The cottage comfortably sleeps four. The kitchen/living area looks out through the distinctive archway into the garden giving a lovely open feel to the room. Fully equipped with Belfast sink and slate worktops, a dish washer, washing machine, fridge and use of a freezer is available if required. Hemp and lime give the walls an organic character, the wooden and slate floor a traditional feel, with beams and a woodburner adding to the atmosphere. |
Wooden painted stairs lead up to one room, cleverly divided by a rustic wood panelled byre - giving two distinct sleeping areas with their own character - the double bed in a dark wooded area and the two singles in a cheerfully painted cabin room, with stable door leading to the outdoor barn steps. Both areas look up to the original beamed roof area. The compact bathroom has a great shower within a 3/4 sized bath, mosaic tiling and glass shower screen. The water is solar or wood-burner heated.
The property is set in 3 acres with lawns, vegetable gardens, woods, flower meadow and pond. Our grassy track leads down to a green lane (ancient bridleway) which in turn will lead you to many footpaths and tracks to explore, some which will take you down to where the faeries live. Main bus route is only two minutes walk, and by car the coastal towns of Cardigan and Newport are only 7 minutes away. |
